Juozas Linkus

Juozas Linkus, a Lithuanian miner, formerly residing in Auchinraith Road, Blantyre, admitted in Hamilton Sheriff Court (pictured) on Thursday 16th August 1928, having deserted his wife and four children. It was stated that Blantyre Parish Council had spent £263 in maintaining the family during the last five years.

Juozas left his family in 1923, and since then had contributed nothing to their support. The prosecutor also pointed out that Linkus had been liberated from prison in England after serving a sentence for bigamy. Sheriff Brown sent Linkus to prison for two months.
