1910 Stoneymeadow Road

A lone figure stands on top of Generals’ Bridge on Stoneymeadow Road around 1910.

The scene today still looks very rural, but the trees themselves very different. Significant tree felling took place along Stoneymeadow Road around the time of the first world war. This colourised photo shows Autumnal colours.

On social media:

Jane Clacy Walked this road many a time
Bill Dorricott Many a time and oft
Helen Lawson Taylor Past it going to work in the sixties .
Archie Peat Does anyone remember when this was referred to as “Steenemeedie Road “
The Blantyre Project my gran certainly called it that Archie.
