1880 Bothwell Castle at Clyde

1880 old path to boathouse wmPictured here in 1880 by Mr. Andre Guthrie is the River Clyde and the ruins of old Bothwell Castle.

This scene actually does look a little different now. The trees either side of the River are hugely more tall now. Also the ivy, that had overgrown the battlements and so destroying the stone on the Castle, has long since been stripped clear in efforts to stop any further decay.

Incredible to think this photo was taken nearly 140 years ago.
